bone headed moves

at work today.. had some computer trouble... said it couldn't find domain server. so i fiddle for a few seconds... can't find anything... open up the server room.. we have 2 80 port boards. and 3 hubs. i check the wires from that puters port to the hub... it's all good.. go back, change out cat5 on computer.. open it up switch out the nic.. nothing.. i fiddle with ip settings for a bit.. 4 hours later.. nothing.. and then someone else has same problem getting to the domain server.. try a few others.. same problem.. tell everyone to finish up. i'm going to reboot the server. reboot the server. they still have trouble.. rest of office connects fine. fiddle some more.. time spent 5 hours.
i go back into the server room. look at the surge protector.. the 3rd hub the small one (for some reason we have 2 big ones and then one small one). the 3rd hub's power box is hanging half way out.
